Yuma is an awkward airport. Have to cross the north end of runway 35, and across runway 8. for an intersection takeoff on runway 35, approx 2350' out of 5700'. Necessitating "short field" takeoff technique.

Cirrus_SR22T_40.jpg
at the hold short line, intersection takeoff. ready to go.

~2300' for takeoff, at max gross. *it'll be fine* :)

Cirrus_SR22T_44.jpg
short_field_technique. half flap. maximum brakes. increase power through 75-80% and as applied power begins to overcome the brakes, release brakes for a best acceleration from standstill. Stays down on the runway straight and flat for best speed accumulation, rotate at flight speed.

and pop up and off smartly. reduce pitch attitude and stabilize.

Cirrus_SR22T_47.jpg
clean up the flaps, modest pitch attitude and healthy acceleration to Vy.
healthy flight posture, speed, and altitude crossing Runway 8.

Thanks to X-Plane 10.11 crashing twice. Once right after takeoff which I reset for and restarted, and once at 15 miles from the VOR, having traveled ~118nm, prior to beginning the VOR-A approach to Montgomery Field. I was frustrated and uninterested to reset and resume. Maybe tomorrow.

Up to that point I enjoyed some time in the SR22 Turbo, appreciating Criminy's paint on it, watching the v10 3d_shadows, and working my way around it's interior, navigation and all. Even including the necessary manual fuel side switch. It's an enjoyable plane and I can appreciate how so many of you love it so much. The auto-rpm system interesting to observe when adjusting for less-than-full-power cruise.

One of my favorites Jason--but for some reaon a real finicky baby to land--the undercarriage is so light and springy comparred to anything else I've flown (Yours or theirs) & I've flown her a lot--but it makes me the more determined--(Just landed her like a Pro) :D

I love the "brownout" effect, now if only XP didn't go into slideshow mode whenever it happens

looking out there to try to identify the airport. (it's there, but not so easy to see)

Cirrus_SR22T_191.jpg
rounding out over the threshold and numbers, further reduction of power down to ~5" MP
knowingly flying into ground effect range, letting the full draggy flaps erode speed. ~80 kts

Cirrus_SR22T_192.jpg
power reduced to minimum, full flaps eroding speed and also slowing through ground effect speed,
settling down into minimum height above runway, gently nosing up for buttered-on landing. ~60 kts

Cirrus_SR22T_193.jpg
after butter smooth kiss landing, holding the nose off just a small amount as speed further erodes by
aerodynamic drag only, and with positive elevator control setting the nose down gently. ~50 kts

Great shots Aquila. always love seeing the 430 and that's one of my favorite digi-camo liveries. So glad to see you back around and having a good time. :D

Swantee, these above are for you for your SR2X landing format. It's a unique fly re it's power&prop behavior and indication. Something to keep in mind with the SR2X and PA46 types, is the fly-on-landing, instead of the Cessna like stop-n-plop. Have a look at those final 3-4 cockpit at landing images to see the speeds where they are and when. :)

now for the beauty shots;

Yes grasped that Jason--the Marquis is another and the T28-C Trojan probably the worst of the lot--theres only a couple of knots at a rather high speed between landing and stalling.

Don't get that problem with your SR2X--in fact she's not a problem--just different-- as you say she has to be flown in & it's just a case of getting that speed down to the crucial touchdown speed which I find quite slow for that look of plane. She's a sheer pleasure--a sleek & sexy looking model & I'll never tire of her...

Cheers Edwin

Evening VFR flight out of KCGS in the 172

CX172_267.jpg
this would be about a two- or three-hour drive on the highway

CX172_270.jpg
takeoff from 33 & following the beltway for a circuit around DC

CX172_285.jpg
which sets me up for a straight-in approach & landing back on 33 at KCGS

CX172_312.jpg
Not the best crosswind landing, actually
