Here’s a photo from one of the attractions in our Oshkosh booth, the ICON flight simulator. The simulator runs X-Plane and accurately models the A5 and its flight characteristics. It was a big hit in the booth and will be an integral part of our future flight training program.

AoA indication. I've been doing that for ~years~, long before 'Icon', and for the same reason.
Wish I got any recognition for it in the GA flying space for making it a prominent use and training fixture
Sour grapes, I know.

I talked to all of those Icon guys at one point or another and always really endorsed their AoA indication. I never really dug how deep of negative AoA the wing would get into at high speed, in theory that increases it's total AoA range of use, but makes fast forward flight very nose down and flight surfaces fighting in opposition to each other in otherwise 'straight' flight. but diff of opinion.

Their depiction and use and visualization of the AoA indication of wing relative to color bands is good. I still think it should have some #'s on it, even if a darker color and or small, but should be there. otherwise it does feel like an idiot-gauge.

The description in the video is good and it is very very valid for all GA, and should be a primary instrument, in my opinion. I include my AoA instrument(s) in ALL of my aircraft. the large round one is in the xHAWK (adv trainer), in all of my other aircraft, LFX, LJX, JOKER, SEAWING, et al, the smaller round one is always immediately left of the airspeed # of the PFD, for correlation. I also have put it in some other normal aircraft, Cirrus Jet, PA46 come to mind. while other aircraft like Texan II, Learjet 25, Gulfstream II, and Starship all have AoA instruments as well, their own unique style of course.

As you can imagine, this is extraordinary news for both ICON and the entire industry, as it highlights the FAA's philosophical commitment to not allow arbitrary weight limits stand in the way of significant safety innovations like spin resistance. While it was a long time in the making, and the delayed decision didn't make the design process any easier for us over the last 14 months, we're happy to report that in the end, the FAA got this one exactly right.

We would like to thank those of you who submitted a comment to the FAA supporting the exemption. Your voice played an important role in the success. As a result of the exemption, an already great aircraft just got even better, and with the D round of financing in place and the uncertainty around the exemption resolved, we are now in an excellent position as we continue to ramp up our production efforts.
