2010_10_09 KMRY - KGTF X3600

- Takeoff from Monterey California, 28R.. to a climbing right at 180KIAS rated power climb up to FL370. Direct KGTF
- Enroute, in varying altitudes between initial at 17.5, enroute 370, on up to a peak cruise altitude for this trip at FL530
- About 220KIAS, ~547KTAS and up to Mach 0.91 for the high altitude, high speed, direct cruise
- The X3600 is the next best thing to a personal Space Shuttle. Running flight levels and speed, window to window alongside the best mainstream jetliners, as well as spinning them up and heading up to the faint trace air of 50K for the highest true airspeeds
- Initiated descent into Great Falls at 100nm out, speed regulated glide at ~200 down to 11.5.
- Reduced power to all three main engines in the descent, a bleed air line valve stuck and cabin pressure became a concern, donned the oxygen mask and initiated emergency descent profile, full flap, gear down, at Vfe. Once below ~14k the pressurization issue no factor, on the list for maintenance to check out.
- On down to 7.5 and leveled out for the low altitude flight on direct into Great Falls KGTF
- Entered on the downwind for runway 21. Pattern speed 180, slowed 160, 140, gear down, flaps down, becoming 120.. for base.. final and lineup
- 13kt gently surging headwind off the right nose for landing.
- Off at the taxiway just past the MANG ramp. Taxiied back up towards the C74 FBO and into the onto the private ramp for shutdown in the private hangar.

The AADX BEECH X JOKER got a little jealous of all the attention being paid to other planes lately.. knocked on the chief exec door and says "sup hoss... how 'bout me". Following the recent MERX-HEX on the LFX9.. with the powerful reflections on the JOKER.. I felt it was the perfect one to do first. Extra venting added to the engine nacelles, as well as quick access panel segment lines. Gold chin band and outlined MERX Dragon livery. Renders in progress now, coming soon. Night panel drop lighting will be soon on the Joker as well.

LOL! So the planes talk to you too, eh? I have an aircraft in my hangar suffering from major depression... We've tried everything. Prozac, Jack Daniels, nights on the town, nothing seems to work.
That's right... you guessed it. The Starship. Caught her mumbling under her breath something about, "I wish I had one of those fancy new cockpits."
And then today... "hmmm, what shall I wear today? I guess it'll have to be this white one again. Ho hum."
I keep telling her she's the most beautiful airplane in the hangar...

Speaking of the Starship… short flight from KSLC (Salt Lake Intl) to QSAF.

Nice shots, Aquila. Yes... this is one of my favorite Burt Rutan designs. Carbon composite, only 53 ever built and now only 9 remain with active FAA registrations. This is a gorgeous aircraft... I'm so thankful to Jason for providing us the opportunity to experience first hand (in my head, anyway) the joy of flying this incredible aircraft.
