LFX IX update. those intimately familiar with LFX know what is being shown as updated.

I'd be fascinated to see who lives on and what is constructed on that island. Map.google indicates that to be Sunset Key

Coming back around to Key West Intl. Extreme objects out here is pretty easy to do. Ctrl-W w/ integrated HUD view

Aquila, those are some fantastic shots of your latest trek in the LFX. I'm very happy to see that and the great shots you get along the way. :D

Leg 5 flight plan

Leg 5 (ENSB-BIKF) was a bit of an odyssey. First off, rather than going direct, the world tour's suggested flight plan (which I'm following) took me on a crazy detour to mainland Norway that made the total distance nearly 2,000 nm instead of about 1,100 "as the crow flies." So I was cruising at 180 kias instead of the usual 200 to save a bit of fuel (although the LFX can cruise at 220 kias, it gets more efficient the slower it goes; maximum range seems to be at 140 kias). Then I had an 87-knot headwind the whole way from Svalbard to Norway, so instead of 260 knots ground speed I was making more like 180. Then I hit a bird and lost the engine, had to make a forced landing (at night, naturally) in Bodø, Norway. Stayed on the ground for a bit to make repairs, then started again. Finally arrived in Iceland about 9 hours after starting out. Had plenty of fuel to spare, even with the extra landing, helped by a slight tailwind over the Atlantic. Anyway, next leg is Reykjavík to Toronto.

TH

EDIT: Oh, yeah, also had 27 knot winds gusting to 38 in Reykjavík, so the landing was a bit exiting.

My favorite "mysterious island," in Honolulu. Looks like people actually do live there!

I dunno… it's not exactly, ah, isolated:

Maybe this place. Or this one. Both are within X-Plane's global scenery range, I believe.

ah, ok. gotcha. I recognize that now. I thought it was out in an isolated corner of somewhere. there is a mission being created that has some island .... landmarks that Kiofka has been working on for quite a while now. if anyone has looked at gizmo scripting for particle effects... Kiofka would like to have a chat wit'cha. I've been down in Florida in xp, for not reason other than getting some tropical views while i'm still ... suffering the winter that will never die. So, i'm hoping for some Florida based missions that can involve Seawing and Seaking. some runs out to Bahamas or Grand Cayman maybe. :)

Descending into Toronto

Leg 6 (Reykjavík to Toronto) was the longest nonstop flight I've made so far in a GA type, about 2250 nm; still had 90 minutes or so of fuel when I landed. (There are a couple of longer legs later on in the Pacific.) Flight was pretty uneventful except for bad weather at CYYZ.

Legs 7 and 8, CYYZ-KJFK-KMCI, were pretty uneventful. Weather in New York was lousy. Next stop is Vancover, then Anchorage.
