Aloha capnsully,

Nice B206 swarms!

Eh...what's the trick to get so many of them in the video?

Surrealism is right! That or the "News Chopper Demonstration Team." Whichever.
xTraffic came out pretty jittery on my old iMac, haven't tried it on my new computer. Must've taken some doing to get that many of them coordinated to all go at once! And it looks like you put a lot of work into the editing as well. Very nice video!

So…part 1 had 4 going at once, part 2 had 8…good luck with part 3! (Of course, I'd have said that about 8 at once too, so maybe 12 isn't such a big deal…unless the formula is y = 2^(x+1) (where y is the number of helicopters and x is the sequential video number) in which case the next one will have 16…am I taking this too seriously?)

Thanks Glow and Aquila! Yes, this was a real bugger to put together, but so satisfying once it all works!
Yep, Aquila got it right, I used Xtraffic. Recorded flight of first chopper. Then replayed that flight, while I flew in formation with that one, recording THAT flight. Then Ditto, Ditto, ditto until I thought I'd reached the limits of jitteriness of the bugs. Hard to not collide! I'm sure I lost a blade or 3.

Xtraffic is not perfect. Last time I used it I hated it, even one xbone was very jittery. I thought I'd try it again with the first Corsica vid and couldn't believe how smooth it was generally, XP 9.4 must have ironed things out. Once it works, you go for it, coz next time it might not be so smooth. If you look carefully there is some jitteriness, but come on, with 9 including me!! But then again, I tried it yesterday with the Xbone and again with one it was too jittery. Hmm, might be the sim rate settings, might experiment.

Aquila you've set me a challenge. One day I might do some short flights and see how many I can get before the fog of war sets in. 20 or so hovering over a house say! It'd be a short, but memorable vid. I'm thinking Foggy, rain, even lightning, with scary glimpses of the silhouettes.....Ok, that's my next production!

The Bell 430 Revisited

Postby kiofka »

It's hard to believe that it was almost six months ago when I posted the original Bell 430 video. Within a day or so, Jason had reloaded our hangars with a completely re-engineered 430 with much more accurate attributes in handling. Wow! What a difference reality makes when these birds fly like they're supposed to. I don't know how many times I "balled it up" learning to fly this thing all over again. I paid a small fortune in helicopter blades and landing gear...
Anyway, I said I would do a sequel and here it is. The new revised and MUCH more accurate in handling Bell 430.
I hope you have as much fun watching as I did flying. I love this bird. Thank you Jason. ;)

Golden Gate bridge from X-Scenery. The static carrier and frigate are from resources within X-Plane using Overlay editor.
