ROTFL you guys!

You caught me...my bad. Better me steering that boat than flying that plane. I think we'd all end up "half a moon under". :P

I was sure that sailboat was a stock fixture of XP9. I was sure i've seen it and thot it was blue. :cylon1:

Took a fast mover, xBONE with wings full sweep and full throttle.. running ~1000 AGL at ~530kts. Turned on balloons even to see if it might turn on XP default boats with it. I didn't have cars traffic on tho. So.. what I did see was the *coughs, coughs* unfortunate number of balloons littered literally everywhere. I didn't see any xp boats, sail, frigate or even carrier. I'm sure it's in there, I just don't have the time to fish through xp/resources/... objects to see what or where it is. Needless to say I couldn't resist scorching some balloons with the 102% scream of >530kt flyby rips. Originally out of KSMO, tore up the Malibu coastline up to Camarillo, a large arc out toward Catalina.. and ended up down past Longbeach nearly to Oceanside. Pulled up into a full sweep full power ballistic climb, from ~500' to 18,000' to roll off. cut power, and glide down to a landing at LongBeach.

Scorching Ballooners!!!

Postby kiofka »

Dude!
I was looking at your screenshot of the Balloon fly by. Is it my imagination or is one of the balloonists Bailing Out!!!
Do they do that when you terrorize them?
I'd like to try that myself, it looks kind of hilarious, (in a sick kind of way).

:cylon2: When there's so many balloons and balloon'ers, you gotta cull the heard by any means.

It started out "ooh look there's one".. "there's another.." uh.. "there's four more..." what the hell is this.. v922, when Balloons are on, they're literally everywhere. Even in Balloon country, there's never that many. so.. it was half slalom pylon.. ahum, balloon slalom to weave through them all. There's just one that is easter-egg style with ppl jumping out.. and who'd blame them with a positively screaming, air tearing flyby rips by them at over 500kts. I dread what you and your brother may do to those Ballooners with an xMig or T6B. .. don't take that as a hint or anything.

Down in Monterey...

Postby kiofka »

My brother and I recently flew out of San Francisco for an evening Jazz concert in Monterey.
The scenery at the airport is custom. Lots of sailboats!

All the other aviators always ask about the nose art. We tell them she always brings us luck.

...and what a comfortable aircraft she is! Nice flight down, almost no turbulence, truly a great flight into KMRY. It was a good thing I was flying right seat; my brother's a great pilot, but sometimes is distracted by the artwork on the inside of the nacelle. Eyes front there, Colonel!

What a beautiful job you did on this airport!

Is that version of KMRY released somewhere? Any pics of it?

Scorching Ballooners at M 0.99, ~650kts. "Great Balls of Fire!"

"Dark Matter", xM!G out of KLGB. auto-throttle 0.99 Mach with burners on/hi.

Pinned to the seat on the takeoff roll.. 40, 60, 120, 180.. 220.. 340.. 380kts before the end of the runway. Dragster quality takeoff launch. Now where's thems infernal Ballooners! I admit.. I clipped the first one with a wing and looked back to see them falling with a limp ripped balloon into the Pacific. I think banned guy #1 was on that. Rolled in on the second balloon.. at 652kt

screenshot_2.png

Lined up along the Malibu coastline heading towards Oxnard...

screenshot_3.png

Feeling onrey.. and after rattling the roofs and nerves of ppl on PCH.. at 650kts @ 400', I stood her on her tail in a 90° ballistic climb at full power, full burner, Mach 0.90+ headed to space..

screenshot_10.png

The digital VVI off the scale.. must have been about 20-30K ft/min to a nose high, tailslide stall at 43,200'.. with stars in view. "maybe next time I'll get there."

screenshot_12.png

Let it fall over and 'lawn dart' into a nose -90° dive, nothing quite like the feeling of looking down at terra firma coming up to meet you at several hundred mph. Leveled off, and resumed my way at ~650 to Camarillo. Overflew the aiport VFR pattern at ~630 for a midfield cross, left pattern outbound to the west. cut power on downwind and felt the thick near sea level air slow the lil M!G down like flying through marshmallow whip. turned base while slowing through 250, gear down sub 180, flaps down sub 160...

screenshot_14.png

Re-applying some power to stay on the landing speed bubble of ~130kts, dragging into the air at +3 AOA arriving at the arrival end of the runway on PAPI at -1000fpm vvi. Gave it a little more juice for the flare, when stabilized in high speed ground effect, rolled off the throttle and settled on with a measurable nose-off flare at about ~115-120.

AADX,
That's the kind of flight that makes me feel alive again at the end of a stressful day at work! The exhilaration is hard to match anywhere else (at least in MY family room)... Good to see you get as much enjoyment flying your own MiG as we do. It is a priviledge to own and fly an aircraft/work of art such as this. Thanks for sharing, AADX.
