Autoland on CYVR 26R

Leg 9, KMCI to CYVR. Pretty smooth, foggy on departure and some icing conditions during the descent, but it cleared up by the time I got to CYVR. Next leg is the North Pacific crossing via Anchorage and Petropavlovsk, but I'm probably not going to get to it till next week.

X-Flightserver went down for a bit after that so went off to do some VFR sightseeing around Inside Passage in the Skycatcher and C182. No autopilot for a change, just trimmed for hands-off flight and then hand flown the whole way. Nice, easy, relaxing flights in calm winds and beautiful scenery.

Here's a challenge for you: xM!G, fully-fueled (with a partly-full drop tank to boot) into Monarch Junction. Was cocky enough to try the approach to 13 the first time… finally made it down on 31 on the fourth attempt

From and to 5U1, northbound up to a large lake that looks like about 35-40miles to the north, out to the end where the dam is and back. Followed the interstate down to Conrad, and on along all the way home. Just a nice day out for a little exploring. That lake up there is big enough for Seaking, and there is another one to the west from here that Seawing might get into pretty easily. If nothing else, something to go see. In XP and maybe in RL

KDCA to QSAF (via KCBF) in the Lancair Legacy on the old iMac. Haven't flown with a mouse in ages… took some getting used to.

wow, great shots Aquila. that Legacy is such a hot rod. It's nice to see it with a little time and show. :)

Bought a USB key and got X-Plane updated on the old iMac; lately been flying on both at once. "Altair" on the Mac Pro, "Aquila" on the iMac. Discovered trying to fly in formation that the lower FPS and slower scenery loads on the iMac creates a noticeable lag which causes it to gradually fall behind the Mac Pro. Also worked out that the lag on X-Ivap is about 10-15 seconds (!) between the time a plane actually passes a position, and the time everyone else sees it pass there; even worse when taxiing on the ground (can be up to 5 minutes (!!) before the position updates).

Also happy birthday Kiofka

yeowch, five minutes!?

the oldest x-plane.org server was vatsim/x-squawkbox format, it didn't have that sort of latency

the intermediate x-plugins.com server that was the mainly used one for several years at least, was quite fine resolution. using the x-ivap client

five minutes, send an email postcard about where you were why dontcha! HAHAHAHA :D
