that looks fantastic Aquila. I'm really glad you're enjoying it especially in those newer liveries. that red one is sharp and when the snow comes back... that orange stripe speeder one ought to look pretty good. :)

Thanks for sharing all those great shots.

Today I add something very special. I made a bid on an old Virtual Pilot Pro at ebay and got it for 1€ and 7€ shipping. It's old but looks like it was never used. It needs a Gameport to USB adapter but works well. Now I just need to find out how to malke the coolie hats work. Here it is...

@ MSO, Missoula Montana. picked the airport and was plopped down turned sideways on the runway. felt like a good opportunity to snap some pictures. starting with the view forward of the train in the distance. Oh for the onset of winter, and low sun angles at higher latitudes.

Lets see, what do those colors remind me of...

Experimenting with flying the ekranoplans over land. They're pretty much useless over any kind of populated area or where there's much in the way of topography or vegetation, but they might be good for crossing deserts, tundra, etc. in addition to bodies of water.

Yep, you're onto me with the HEXOR colors. on LFX IIX, LJX, and NXR. Awesome sentry you got there Kiofka. :D

Looks great Aquila. :D

yeah, WIG over land is a rarity. TERR mode at 10-20-50' is low and basically a flying land vehicle, PAV. WIG over land would be snow, sand, sand-bars, marsh land, and some limited open desert areas. Theoretically WIG over land could be done over roadway surfaces, but the thought on that is abandoned/deserted roads that are graded with barely weeds/etc coming up through roadway cracks. but thats' sort of an apocalyptic vision of flying over decrepit roads. That's why they're class-c, able to fly freely above ground effect if necessary. Very inefficiently from the high drag wings for free-air flying, but they can. For the best WIG gains, they really have to be down skimming. That I envision to be over any water, snow, sand, flat and automatically leveled surface. I have always imagined it being over snow, kicking up the snow powder in it's wake. and I've imagined it over grassy marsh (like an airboat), laying down the grass with the air wash and wake. over water of course, and over iced over water. Flat desert, sure except for even small land based obstacles, the odd rock, scrub brush, cactus. Rolling sand dunes would be kind of iffy depending on the grade of those dunes to make the level&angle changes. San bars though that would be beach, river based sandbars, etc. yep. So in that capacity it's lke using a river as a wig surface travel waterway path, but if there's some dry patches, sandbars, areas where the river snake turns but there's a smooth sandbar.. just go straight over it.

I think Seaking, is largely over_water based, but i could see over iced_water, snow over iced water, snowy plains along a cleared path. Spectacular as that might be, probably not the safest to be operating a 60K lb craft near surface, over land, in snowy/icy winter. I'd just put it up at ~1000-3000 AGL on TERR.

realistically that is. in the sim, said looking at and thinking about your screenshots. good thing for flat x-plane land. :)
