One screen shot with the Mustang: just perfect lighting ! I love the new cabin ceiling and floor, as well as the panel.

thanks Max, for both. I'll hit the 430 with a couple-few more % darkening to the base panel.

updated daytime render of the interior with the panel base as of the 2011.08.20 update, including the shadow layer as the panel screenshot was taken for the panel source in the model to see. I'll still give it a couple more % but as you can see.. it's very fine down to the last % or two of shade to get 'just right'. invariably of course, someone will blast me for something about it.

ugh. this workflow to get all the various layers for the specular variation... is killing me. the multiplicity and repetition.
I sure hope you guys appreciate it, or even just simply notice. :)

/me is getting carpal tunnel just *thinking* about this workflow, let alone doing it... :?

well.. this new process applied to updates to

A109E
BX430
SR2X
CCM510
PIPERS970
- all PA models

where to look for the new effects. in areas where direct light can't get to. between seat cushions, footwell, etc. it should make a much more realistic effect when specularity washes across surfaces, it doesn't evenly wash across a whole surface and look horribly artificial.

PIPERS970 is geting new panel shade bakes next. A109E got new exterior normal map this update, that should be deeper, sharper (as long as your texture resolution is high enough). I am going to try an exterior specular variation (don't expect rivets and uneven skin surface stuff), more of an experiment really. Anyway, I have a contract job to focus on, ... and I'd like to get some time into xBone, xJoker, xSeawing, x3600.. etc with these same new treatments. Well.. anyway there's a lot to do, and keep going on.

I look forward to seeing some screenshots from you guys with the high end graphics and texture resolution. :D

A medley of screenshots taken as I was looking around at things on the MBP to see speculars, normals, colors and all. More to do based on what I saw, just a matter of how well I remember it come tomorrow.

Hmm. I think I need to add for Pipers interiors... they have painmaker 3d emitter lamps on all the time, to start with. I did have a debate with Supnik about this a long time ago. X-Plane defaults to interior dome light ON, until you turn it down with the cabin_light rheostat.

I was scratching my head last night how the same floor texture in PA32 & PA34 looks so washed out compared to the PA46. same rendering settings, same ray length, same light levels, but it was looking blasted and washed out. Those bleeep pleep... !@#$% emitting lamps on all the time by default. "Thanks Austin". The PA46 and others that have night rendered interiors I have removed those emit lamps, so they look normal during the day, and switch to lit at night. those emit lamps were nice, but also were very poorly implemented causing side effects like this. I did emplore Ben to have them come on at the day/night cutover time. heck, even fade on during that time.. anything other than driving around with the dome light on during the day. sighs.

anyway, if you think the interior looks bright and washed out, try turning DOWN/OFF the cabin int light ... during the day. if you like it, great. :)

Sorry about the too_strong normals intensity, granite seats in LFX & LJX. fixed now. or should be, I'll take a look later. (down from 10 to 3, same as normals in SR2X seats) Update posted today for LJX & LFX with that, and the specular variance. You know, when I was looking around at things last night. LFX IIX still looks great. To me at least. :)

:D *ding*ding*ding* ty for knowing the lineup and identifying it. In my round of looking at things last night, I loaded that one up, the interior is just rich and cozy.. and that view from the top.. hehe.. lookit that reflection on the rear window glass. :) I keep trying to toss it in the oven today for redoing it's interior textures, and hit it with the new specular/normal process. But it sure is a neat little plane. :D
