Hi Jason. Been flying your lovely T6X/Beech & theres a question I've always wanted to ask---When using the speed flaps to reduce speed (And this girl needs it she's fast) should they be retracted when the standard flaps are employed

And a point I've only just noticed as I generally fly the other version---Regardless of what view I use or whether I use Trakir (Which lets me get behind/under most 3d views) the bottom line of the Flight director is always blocked??

TH, I just love that little xHawk. for as basic as it seems, it really scoots well, a nice little commuter or 2-seat private plane with swiftness. I love those great dramatic and artistic screenshots you've been doing. very evocative and even the images alone paint a picture of a story happening. great job.

Swantee1, the air-brake is a panel extended from center bottom of the fuselage. operated independently and as necessary. the flaps are 'split' which are effective both as flaps, and as drag_devices. also use as appropriate or necessary. The FMS. it's a tight fit there, you're welcome to edit the panel and scale it down a few % or change it to the FMS_small. :)

cheers and glad to help and answer as best I can Swantee1. glad you're having a good time with the TEX2. It really is a fun plane to fly and give yourself missions or things go do with it. I think my favorite was the crash in the congo mission where I set it to be escort flight top cover as I flew the mission in a MX 206. :)

Damn that is a sexy airplane!

Looks great TH. It's pretty neat how when so displaced by time & space to when it was first new and more commonly seen, how seeing it now it stands quite the test of time and looks just as seductive as ever. Thanks more for your works in putting figures in them which shows their realistic scale. That Joker needs it's interior work at some point soon I think. Ty for the showing of it, and Criminy's paints always show well. :D

AADX BEECH JOKER 10

notes: I think what bugs me about v10 shadows is the strength of darkness of the shadow. as in absence of very low amount of ambient scatter light. makes everything not in direct sunlight, look so intensely darkened. Maybe, at some point, in v10, they may put in a lighting preferences screen to let the user add in their preference for ambient light to fill in those cave like shadows. I know so many others design interiors in otherwise light colors, med-light grey or even whites or blues.. while common for the 60-70's, most any modern craft (cars) have generally black interiors, namely seen similarly in the likes of the Cirrus SR's, and my bone with v10 is about those darn too-strong shadows still. :)

I agree, it holds up very well! I actually did swap out the old seats for the nice new ones out of the LFX/LJX to make the figure work better with the racing seat belt (though it still works with the original seats). This pilot figure has head/eyes animations borrowed from my WIP Dormouse jet at .org. Got to add some NVG's with a hide/show anim tied to night vision. It is fun to get the sense of scale from the figures, roomy LFX/LJX vs. not-so-roomy Hawk vs. Mercury-capsule Cassutt.

:) I also like how the figure present in view lends scale to the whole aircraft and in the case with the Joker (and Seawing), the otherwise seemingly compact R13B rotary engine nacelle pod. those always seem to appear too small, their being the seemingly cartoony scale along with the aircraft. When seen with the human size figure in view you see the aircraft is actually fairly large, despite proportional appearance that makes it look small&cartoony, and see that the engine nacelle is sizeable enough for a small R13B, and turbo, and cooling system in there. All I do know is I've been in awkwardly compact aircraft interiors, lets just say "overlapping shoulders" for seat and cabin width, is a motivating factor for the cabin sizes I give the LFX/LJX/JKR/XMD/XBN... et al. so glad and pleased to see you having such a good time putting the figures in there. Really lends to what i've said over time about x-avatar or something about pilot figures being their own, and own well done solution. Keep up the great work TH

Jason just been relaxing with landing the Texan onto a carrier & all went well. Taxied to the take off point-turned the Plane and braked & suddenly it went out of control and seem to slide off of the back of the carrier???

Repeated the process to check it out. Did the same--good landing--stopped--but this time I did not turn the Plane--I put on the brake and switched off the engine. A few seconds later the Plane began to slide as before and started to head off of the side of the Carrier as before. I paused and went into Replay mode to check it out. At that point the carrier goes through a 90 Deg. sweep to starboard. The aircraft loses its contact with the deck and also with it's position in respect to the Carrier which is pulling away from under it in its new direction.--Has this been noticed/reported before Jason?

Also when the engine was switched off the prop disapeared. It is clearly visible in motion--but vanishes when engines are stopped??
texan_2.png
Near touchdown--all fine

texan_3.png
Touched down and braked--fine--prop clearly showing

texan_5.png
Engine off--carrier starts turn and Plane leaves dec. No prop

texan_7.png
Carrier well into turn-Plane still on the heading held prior to carriers turn

texan_8.png
Plane ready to lose Carrier or visa-versa. Whe Carrier no longer under plane the Aircraft nosedives into the drink

Thought it worth mentioning mate --It's the last edition & Beta of X-Plane before the 64 bit which I have seperate. This install does not have Camerons planes (Thus Gizmo) as you know I keep yours & his seperate. Cheers

Note. Just checked it again from Landbased Airfield. When engine switched off on airfield prop slows & shows to static. Put Carrier on straight course and landed fine. Prop disapears with engine off. Plane does not recognize the gentle swaying movement of the ship as it did not the hard swing.

That has always happened with XP carriers, at least since v9.00 (when I came in). The AI turns the ship whenever it comes near land; when this happens it dumps you in the water. Pretty big nuisance for carrier ops, and not unique to the T6 or any aircraft. Only real solution I know is to do carrier ops far away from land.

I believe the props on some of Jason's aircraft are modeled as .obj's, which spin up till they hit such-and-such RPM then disappear, to be replaced by the default X-Plane prop disc (which shows up above such-and-such RPM and disappears whenever the engine isn't running/prop is windmilling). Look closely: if you stop the engine by cutting off fuel the prop disc sometimes disappears a second or two before the propeller .obj reappears. What's probably happening is, on the carrier going at 30 knots, the propeller is windmilling fast enough that it never gets below that threshold RPM for the propeller .obj to display, but since the engine is off the XP prop disc doesn't show either.
